Rick Brown
Rick Brown is a compensation consultant with more than twenty years of management and consulting experience. Having worked in both corporate management and in consulting provides Rick with a hands-on perspective of human resources issues from both sides of the desk.
During Rick's corporate career, he was Director of Executive Compensation for Merck & Co., Inc., responsible for all compensation matters covering Merck's top 1,000 executives worldwide. He also served as Director, Corporate Compensation for the United Brands Company and in various positions with the Sun Company. Rick served as the Compensation Practice Leader in Buck Consultants' Philadelphia office and served as a Senior Principal for Hay Associates in New York.
Rick's consulting experience covers a broad spectrum of assignments including the design and development of performance management and variable reward programs; sales, executive and broad-based compensation programs; and total rewards strategies and restructuring. Rick's clients have comprised a broad cross section of public, private and not-for-profit organizations of all sizes. In addition, Rick has been a speaker on a variety of performance management and compensation topics for various groups and conferences. Rick's clients have included Rohm & Haas Corp., Bristol Myers Squibb, MetLife, Wyeth, Wells Fargo, AlliedBarton, and Uber Engineered Materials.
Rick earned a B.A. in Applied Science and a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and an M.S. in Industrial Administration from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University. Rick is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Philadelphia Human Resource Planning Group (PHRPG), PENJERDEL Employee Benefits Association (PEBA), and World at Work (WaW) (formerly the American Compensation Association for which he was honored with ACA's lifetime achievement award.)
